How does critical thinking apply to academic integrity

Help develop their interest and pique their curiosity by explaining how your course topics fit into the broader curriculum and how they can be applied in the business world. Where possible, create course activities that simulate real-world experiences and help students actively engage with the material. While it may seem like the most efficient option, especially in large sections, be mindful about the use of third-party platforms for homework and exams.

These tools are beneficial for reinforcing a basic understanding of course concepts, but students find that they detract from their learning and limit critical thinking. Fostering critical thinking in the classroom is not easy. It requires a substantial amount of work to design and facilitate the types of activities that help students develop their critical thinking skills. Assessing critical thinking is even more time-consuming as strong measures of critical thinking ability are often found in written work, group projects and through Experiential Learning.

Critical thinking development is not limited to graded work either. Experiences in the classroom—from teach-outs, teamwork, peer review and discussion—help deepen student learning, hold their interest and develop their critical thinking skills. It can result in you having: your mark reduced to redo the work for credit only failed units the incident included in future references damaging your employment prospects susceptibility to being blackmailed in the future by unscrupulous contract cheating companies to leave the University without your degree a delay to your academic progression or graduation while your case is investigated to enter the workplace unprepared due to missed knowledge, resulting in you being unable to thrive in your chosen career.
