Slate how many spaces after a period

By sealing old records, we can provide a clean slate, reduce recidivism, and give people a second - or very often a first - chance. I urge the City to pass this resolution in support of these efforts, and the state legislature and Governor to move quickly to pass the Clean Slate Act. In , the state enacted legislation which made , eligible to have their records sealed through an application process, but only 2, have completed this process as a result of unnecessary barriers. The Clean Slate Act makes this process automatic, rather than initiated by the applicant.

The presence of a criminal record frequently hinders formerly incarcerated people from obtaining employment, housing, and education.

To my way of thinking, a period would work best. Hi and welcome. I have a related question about a piece of nonfiction. I agree with Ron. This is one of the situations that bothers me about the three-four dot system. When referencing a movie in the Notes section, am I right in saying that I put the title of the movie in italics first followed by a period. Previous Next Star New issue. Jump to bottom. However, the core plugin's onBeforeInput handler calls preventDefault and manually inserts text, which means the actual sequence of events seen by Slate is: onBeforeInput - data: " " onBeforeInput - data: " " In other words, iOS never gets a chance to handle the double tap or generate a replacement.

Revert the removal of isNative …. Preventing native text input events completely breaks autocorrect, autocomplete, auto-capitalization, predictive text, and double-space period insertion on iOS.

In order to allow iOS to perform these kinds of operations, we have to avoid preventing the default event behavior and allow native input handling whenever possible. Fixes ianstormtaylor Fixes ianstormtaylor See also: ianstormtaylor Revert the removal of isNative I re-tested, and the precise sequence of React synthetic events with corresponding native events for a double tap on the iOS spacebar is: React event Native event data 1 onBeforeInput keypress " " 2 onInput input 3 onBeforeInput keypress " " 4 onBeforeInput textInput ".

I'd be open to a PR that uses the underlying native events to fix this behavior. Thanks for your help! Also, I could use some guidance with regard to what you said earlier in comment : The reason I ask is because if so, we could choose to not prevent default them, but also not insert any text. Use native beforeinput events to handle text insertion when possible …. By handling text insertion with the native event instead of the synthetic event when possible, we can fully support autocorrect, spellcheck replacements, and related functionality on iOS without resorting to hacks.

UA sniffing stops at the first match when trying to determine the client's OS. The iOS sniff now runs before the macOS sniff, which prevents false positives. The first printing of the United States Declaration of Independance uses such spacing.

As a style, this died out in the twentieth century, with its last vestiges appearing in the s, decades before the rise of computerized typography. It remained a custom on the typewriter, though, because double spaces are proportionately more appropriate for the airy monospaced faces standard on these machines. I agree with Felici on everything here except that last bit.

Double spaces are not more visually appropriate for monospaced fonts if anything, the opposite is actually true. Double spacing was preserved because there was no reason to change, while the print industry was trying to print more cheaply. The Slate article misrepresented Felici to a very significant degree.
